I am amazed how life can pull us in so many directions and in so many subtle ways. How we can be so preoccupied by the flashing lights, the never-ending queue of unread emails, the ringing phone, the office, the kids, the broken sink in the kitchen, the war on terror and the next episode of Scrubs. So where does it end? Will we ever be able to pull ourselves above the to-do-lists and look at life from a higher perspective? It seems as if the society holds us in a seductive trance. A trance cleverly induced in order to deaden, not awaken. A trance devised to keep us in line and in check. It mechanizes us. It cons us. It steels from us. It engineers away our most valued asset – US.
