As the time to retire draws near it is important to begin to think about whether or not you are going to relocate after retirement. The decision is one that must be thought about carefully, considering factors such as affordable cost of living, available and affordable healthcare, safety, and social activities that you are interested in. People have many ideas of the best places to retire. Here are the five places that continue to make the list for the best places for Baby Boomers to retire.

The List

North Carolina – North Carolina is best known for the breath taking view of the Smoky Mountains and small town atmosphere. What some do not know about is the affordable housing and rich cultural environment. You can spend your days visiting the many sites, activities, and shopping and your evenings watching football or out on the town dining in restaurants. The weather is always pleasant, and you can even plan a vacation within the state. Everything is at your fingertips and the sense of community makes you feel right at home. Recommended towns include Asheville, Greenville, and Charlotte.

Florida- Everyone knows that Florida will be on every best retirement place list and it’s the place we hear the most about when it comes to that subject. The reason it is so popular is because of the great weather, famous beaches, and its reasonable-priced housing. You can choose upscale housing, right on the beach and there is also the choice of more affordable housing that is still walking distance from the beach. There is so much to see and do in Florida, especially with the fact that it has Disney World. Most towns in Florida are safe and have low crime rates. Some recommended towns are Sarasota, Tallahassee, and Port Charlotte.

Panama – If you want to get out of the states and settle somewhere different Panama is a great choice. It offers affordable housing, great weather conditions, and beautiful scenery. Aside from affordable housing cost of living is much lower than it is here, building a home would cost you less than you can imagine. They do use American dollars and the lifestyle is much healthier. There are lots to do to occupy your days and so many places to visit you will never be bored.

San Francisco, CA – Here is a place for the city girl/guy who can not imagine living in the country. San Francisco is spotlighted because not everywhere in California would be suited for retired baby boomers, but this city has the right balance to make the list. Now it also must be said that living in the city is not cheap and so you would have to be prepared to pay a pretty penny for housing. But to those who can afford it the weather is pleasant and the activities are endless. Not ready to sit back and relax too much? San Francisco is the place for you.
Arizona – Arizona is the place for nature lovers. If you enjoy sleeping under the stars and having adventures in your backyard this place is perfect. The weather is always warm and there are many housing opportunities for those moving into the area. There are, also, many different communities to choose from. They have the city, the suburbs, and active adult communities.

Arizona is a great place for those looking for variety and lots and lots of space.
Packing up and moving may seem like a daunting venture, but moving to a new town can be exciting and provides lots of opportunity for you to explore new surroundings
