Recurring Dreams



Ever had the same dream over and over night after night? If so, you have had what is called a recurring dream. They usually occur because of an intense fear or stress taking place in a person’s life. Do you have a big event planned such as a wedding? You may be experiencing cold feet in the manifestation of a recurring dream. Are you an athlete and have a big game coming up? Maybe you are feeling all the pressure is on you and you are afraid of failing. Are you taking a test and failing it every time? Perhaps you are afraid of failing at something significant in your real life. This might also manifest itself in the form of a recurring dream.

Can reducing the amount of stress you are under really reduces the chance of getting these recurring not-so-good dreams??

The simple answer to your question is absolutely yes! However our dreams, including our recurring dreams, are unique to our day to day personalities and life events, and therefore you need to figure out what your recurring dream symbolizes to you. An easy first step is to have a pad and pencil by your bedside and write down everything you remember of your dream as soon as you awaken. Then read what you have written before getting out of bed. Next, get up, do your morning routine, and begin your day; but keep in mind some of the elements from your dream and try to see "What do the dream events remind you of in your waking life?' Once you understand the specific elements of the stressor it is much easier to begin de-stressing and ending the recurring dream.
