How To Build A Healthy Relationship

by BoomerYearbook.com

“Happily ever after” is a term which exists only in fairy tales. In real life every relationship has its share of bumps and problems. In fact having occasional arguments is even considered healthy. But if mutual bickering and fights become an everyday phenomenon, then you know your relationship is headed for trouble.

A lot of song writers and poets have aptly said “love just ain’t enough!” Mutual love may be the most important building block of a relationship, but love alone can’t sustain the relationship. You might love your partner or spouse to death but may still find your relationship battling stormy weather. The reason could be that your relationship has one or more of the following elements missing: trust, open communication, respect, honesty and/or complete commitment. However, if you have the will and desire to make your relationship work, these problems can be sorted out.

It never occurred to me that clinical hypnosis can help in this kind of problem. Are all psychologist trained to do this? I just wanna be sure that I'll be getting a shrink that's worth the bucks...

The first step is always difficult to take---acknowledging that there's something wrong within the relationship. It is clouded by anger. Once a couple overcomes this ego-filling stage, it will be a whole lot easier for the other techniques to be taken.

I guess the main thing here is communicating with our partners. That, of course, is a product of the amount of trust and respect you have for each other. Great advice here! Do you have more at babyboomer.com?

Some shrinks are trained in hypnosis but not all. Conversely some hypnotists or hypnotherapists are not licensed psychotherapists. There are many ways to work on having a healthy relationship. I encourage you to first define what that means for you. We all have different needs, desires and experiences which shape the way we interact with others and therefore there is no model "healthy relationship" it is very individually based. Perhaps start with a journal or if you prefer just visualize the things you want in your relationships that would make you feel loved, in love and supported and vice versa. Additionally I urge you to start building a healthy relationship with yourself! As corny as it may sound we truly can't love or give ourselves fully to another human being till we have learned how to accept, respect, love and trust ourselves first. This begins with honesty and integrity. The more honest we are with ourselves the more honest and intimate our relationships become. If you are still interested in hypnosis use the Internet to research potential hypnotherapists credentials and also ask if you can meet/interview them. So much of any service or professional relationship is based on how much you "click" with or trust that person.
